The New Bones

About

The New Bones are a three-piece out of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, formed in 2021 by Brian Jopling, Connor Kearns, and Harper Yatvin. What began as a weekly jam session — playing covers of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Radiohead — quickly turned into something of their own. Before long, the trio was writing original songs, recording them, and performing live.

With a sound that pulls from classic rock, indie, and whatever else feels right in the moment, The New Bones blend tight vocal harmonies, piano, guitar, ukulele, and bongos into something warm, off-kilter, and unmistakably theirs.

Brian Jopling

Lead & Backup Vocals, Piano, Guitar

A software engineer by day, Brian has been making and recording music for over ten years. He brings that same obsessive attention to detail into the studio, handling much of the songwriting and production for the band.

Connor Kearns

Lead & Backup Vocals, Guitar, Piano

Connor's guitar work and vocal range give The New Bones their melodic edge. Whether picking out a riff or trading lead vocals, he brings an easy musicality that locks the songs into place.

Harper Yatvin

Ukulele, Bongos

Harper rounds out the band's sound with ukulele and bongos, adding a rhythmic warmth and texture that gives The New Bones their distinctive feel. His energy in the jam room is the spark that keeps the sessions going.

The first album from The New Bones — and a concept album at that. Written by Brian, Not Black Not White tells the story of a stagnant life and a quiet, growing desire for change. The six tracks trace an arc from following someone else's lead, through a moment of awakening, the search for real connection, a brush with emptiness, and ultimately arriving at self-realization.

Throwaway

2024

While recording Not Black Not White, The New Bones would take breaks and create songs on the fly — whiteboarding a word bank, building lyrics from the chaos, and hitting record. Throwaway is the collection of those spontaneous sessions: eight tracks that range from surreal character studies and fictional obituaries to nostalgic singalongs and late-night jams that refused to stay throwaway.
